Simplicity Limited was set up in London in 1934, and in 1947 Blantyre in Scotland was chosen as its European base. In June 2002 the operation relocated to Stockport in Cheshire, where the current offices and distribution centre reside.

The Company markets home sewing patterns under various brand names including SIMPLICITY and NEW LOOK, and it has a special distribution agreement with BURDA. Simplicity distributes all of its pattern brands directly to retail customers that carry fabric, haberdashery and other sewing and craft materials servicing approximately 8,000 locations worldwide.
